If this is your first time here, please read the following message. To receive consideration for the 2025 Scholarship Awards, applicants must submit their "Student Profile" before June 1, 2025, and (not mandatory) either you and/or your parent(s) are a member of the Hillcrest-Marlow Heights Civic Association. The 35TH annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held on June 25, 2025, at 7 pm.

 

The ChapterNet Student Dashboard is your "one-stop-shop" for everything related to applying for scholarship opportunities. Log in and create or update your profile. You can apply for eligible scholarships with just a few clicks, including opportunities from Scholarship America's partners nationwide.

 

What's more, logging into the Student Dashboard will also give you access to volunteer and internship opportunities, important news about college life, and exclusive resources to help you manage your money, succeed in college, and take advantage of everything Dollars for Scholars® has to offer.

FAFSA - We encourage students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. (FAFSA) is the first step in the financial aid process. You use the FAFSA to apply for federal student aid, such as grants, loans, and work-study. In addition, most states and colleges use information from the FAFSA to award non-federal aid.  Contact your high school guidance or college financial aid office for additional information.  You may also get information at http://fafsa.ed.gov/. 

 
Please focus on the following requirements:
  1. Students must complete a "Student Profile".  You can begin the Student profile by clicking the "Click to Login Button" below
  2. Students must live in one of these areas: Temple Hills, Oxon Hill, Suitland, or Fort Washington, MD.
  3. Recommended, but not mandatory, parents or students are a Hillcrest-Marlow Heights Civic Association member and current in their dues.  The Membership Civic Year began in September and ends in June.  Please contact hmhca.ds@gmail.com for information on membership requirements or click here.  There is a menu pick for this item in the Student Profile.
  4. Students must be accepted into an undergraduate or vocational program (the system will not move you forward to be eligible for an award if you have only "Applied" to a school.  There is a menu pick for this item in the Student Profile.
  5. Students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  6. Students must upload a school transcript and provide at least one reference contact.
  7. Students are to provide information on Community Service with the Hillcrest-Marlow Heights Civic Association or other Community Service or intent to perform Community Service.  Students must complete this item in the Student Profile, or the system will not move forward to be eligible for an award.
  8. When you complete/update your profile, you may be matched to other scholarships. If you "match" these scholarships, please apply for different scholarships.

Volunteers - Volunteer service with HMHCA Dollars for Scholars® is considered during the scholarship selection process.  Students may also earn community service hours to satisfy high school graduation requirements.
 
 

Other Scholarships - Information about other non-federal assistance may be available from foundations, religious organizations, community organizations, civic groups, and organizations related to your fields of interest, such as the American Medical Association or American Bar Association. Check with your state senator, state delegates, county council members, and other local elected officials to see if they award scholarships.

 

 

SENATORIAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE

 
You MUST visit the MARYLAND LEGISLATORS Web page to locate your State Senator or Delegate.

The General Assembly is Maryland's legislative body and directly represents the electorate. The state has 47 districts represented by 47 Senators and 141 Delegates.

To find your State Senator and Delegates:

  1. Use this website address http://www.mgaleg.maryland.gov/ This is the Maryland General Assembly Web Page.
  2. Look across the tabs at the top of the page for "Legislators." Click on the Legislators tab. This page will list all of the Senators and Delegates in the State of Maryland.
  3. Look for " Who represents me " at the top of the Legislators page (to the right side).
  4. Click on "Who represents me?" and insert your address. Your elected officials: US Senators, House of Representative members, State senators, and Delegates will appear.
  5. Click the "View by District or County " link above the Senate and House listings to sort the State Senators and Delegates by Districts.
  6. To obtain your senator's and delegate's addresses, click on their name on the Legislator List.
  7. Use the address and phone information to contact your Senator and Delegates about how to apply for their Scholarship Program. They will be glad to hear from you.
  8. After obtaining scholarship application materials from your State elected officials, make sure you pay attention to the due date for submission of the application. Complete the application and provide all requested information. Remember you are competing with other students for a limited amount of scholarship funds. Submit a good application package to your elected official.
  9. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. The FAFSA is required to get a scholarship from a Maryland elected official.
